Dennis Itumbi congratulates DCP candidate as vote tally continues
By Emmanuel Rono, July 16, 2026Digital strategist Dennis Itumbi has congratulated DCP candidate Samuel Kamau Ngotho following his victory in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election, describing the contest as hard-fought and calling on the winner to serve the constituents well.
In a statement on his Facebook page on Thursday, July 16, 2026, Itumbi praised Ngotho for winning the race and urged him to deliver on his mandate.
“Congratulations Ngotho. Well fought. Well won. Serve Ol Kalou well,” Itumbi said.
He also commended UDA candidate Muchina Samuel Nyagah for what he described as a spirited campaign, saying the contest had been competitive despite ending in defeat for their side.
“Good campaign Muchina Samuel Nyagah – we had a great race. We did what we could. We lost today. There is tomorrow. Tuonane in the next democratic process,” he said.

Itumbi further congratulated Nyandarua Senator John Methu, whose campaign team backed Nyagah, saying their efforts had demonstrated political strength despite the outcome.
“Senator Methu your campaign won, the future awaits… sasa get confirmed as SG,” he added, in an apparent reference to Methu’s expected confirmation as Secretary-General of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

This comes as vote counting continues in the Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election after polling stations closed on Thursday evening, marking the start of the decisive phase in a contest that has attracted national political attention.
The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) began tallying ballots after voting ended, with election officials expected to compile results from polling stations before announcing the official outcome.
The exercise follows a day of voting that the commission said largely progressed as planned, despite isolated incidents and political claims over the conduct of the polls.
Gachagua unveils parallel tally
As counting got underway, Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua announced that his party had established a parallel tallying centre to monitor results from individual polling stations alongside the official IEBC process.
“We will have a parallel counting system on our DCP page so that Kenyans can follow,” Gachagua said.
