DCP opens registration for 2027 aspirants, announces nomination fees
By Ndiritu Wanjiru, July 25, 2026The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) has officially opened registration for individuals seeking to contest elective seats on its ticket in the 2027 General Election, unveiling the nomination guidelines and registration fees for aspiring candidates across the country.
In a notice released by the party on Friday, July 24, 2026, DCP called on all aspirants to begin the registration process by making payments through the party’s designated pay bill before submitting the required personal details. The move signals the party’s early preparations for the next electoral cycle as it seeks to field candidates for various elective positions.
According to the registration guidelines, aspirants are required to make payments through Pay Bill number 247247, using Account Number 254829, under the account name Democracy for the Citizens Party. After making the payment, applicants must submit transaction confirmation, their full name and ID number, phone number, county, constituency and ward details, as well as the position they intend to contest.
Nomination fees vary by elective position
The party has set different registration fees depending on the seat being contested.
Those seeking to vie for the position of Member of County Assembly (MCA) will pay Ksh5,000, while youth and persons living with disabilities (PWDs) will pay a discounted fee of Ksh2,500.
Individuals interested in contesting for Member of Parliament, Woman Representative or Senator will each pay Ksh10,000, with youth and PWD aspirants in those categories paying Ksh5,000.
Meanwhile, gubernatorial aspirants will pay the highest registration fee of Ksh50,000, while youth and PWD candidates seeking governorship positions will pay Ksh25,000.
Early preparations for 2027
The announcement comes as political parties continue laying the groundwork for the 2027 general election by recruiting members and identifying potential candidates for elective offices.
DCP, headed by the former deputy president Rigathi Gachagua, which has been expanding its political activities across the country, said interested aspirants can seek further clarification through the party’s official inquiry phone numbers provided in the registration notice.
The registration exercise is expected to help the party identify and prepare candidates early, giving them sufficient time to organise campaigns, strengthen grassroots networks and participate in the party’s nomination process ahead of the national elections.
