Cherargei cites Kura over skewed projects

Nandi Senator Samson Cherargei wants top officials of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (Kura) to investigate, over skewed allocation of road projects to particular regions.

In a statement to Senate Committee on Roads and Transportation, Senator Cherargei says Kura has deliberately deprived the Rift Valley region of the projects and allocated the projects to regions sympathetic to President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

“The committee should investigate claims of skewed allocation of road projects to particular regions to the detriment of other regions, particularly counties in Rift Valley; which include Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Tans Nzioa, Elgeyo\Markwet, Bomet, Kericho and Nakuru,” Cherargei’s statement read in part.

It adds: “The committee should also indicate the number of projects
allocated to these counties during the financial years 2019/2020,
2020/2021, 2021/2022.”
