Caleb Amisi to Sifuna: You can’t remove Ruto and replace him with Gachagua
By Mabonga Makhanu, June 30, 2026Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has warned Edwin Sifuna against replacing President William Ruto with his former deputy, Rigathi Gachagua.
While speaking during an event in his constituency on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, the outspoken parliamentarian, who claims to be the brains behind the Kenya Moja movement that later mutated into the Linda Mwananchi movement, told Sifuna that just because Kenyans are dissatisfied with the current President does not mean he should align himself with Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua.

‘I want to tell Sifuna you can’t remove Ruto and replace him with Wamunyoro, just that Kenyans don’t want Ruto it does not mean they want Wamunyoro,” Amisi boldly declared.
He went on to tell Sifuna that if it means removing Ruto from power, then he should be replaced by a better option, which, according to him, should not be Gachagua. He further argued that if Sifuna continues pursuing an alliance with Gachagua, he will eventually remain alone.
Caleb Amisi-Linda Mwananchi fallout
This comes at a time when Caleb Amisi has fallen out with the Linda Mwananchi movement, accusing it of deviating from its original course. He announced that he will be forming a new movement dubbed Renaissance to champion what the former was initially meant to achieve.
His criticism of the Linda Mwananchi movement’s willingness to partner with the United Opposition has left many confused, considering he has himself been attending the Kalonzo Musyoka and Rigathi Gachagua-led movement’s events.
On June 14, 2026, when the Linda Mwananchi movement was holding a rally in Thika, Caleb Amisi skipped it and instead joined the United Opposition, who were in his constituency during their Western Kenya tour.
Amisi’s double stands
Amisi’s latest appearance with George Natembeya adds to the growing list of instances that appear to contradict his criticism of the Linda Mwananchi movement’s proposal to work with the United Opposition.

Orengo slams Caleb Amisi
Siaya Governor James Orengo has also come out to slam the young parliamentarian over his stance on the movement’s direction.

He expressed similar concerns over the MP attacking the movement when he has, on two occasions, attended United Opposition rallies.
Orengo stated that none of the people led by Sifuna, whom Amisi has been criticizing, has attended a United Opposition rally, yet Amisi himself has been part of them.
