Caleb Amisi: Ruto not seeking coalition with ODM but plans to absorb it
By Mabonga Makhanu, April 16, 2026Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has predicted that President William Ruto has no intention of forming a coalition with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) but instead intends to absorb the party.
While speaking during an interview with a local TV station aired on Thursday, April 16, 2026, according to the outspoken lawmaker, the president has no good intentions towards the ODM party.
He wants to weaken the party to the point that it loses its relevance so that when he enters the 2027 general election, he vies under a single-party arrangement with a weakened ODM that cannot stand as a standalone party and would need support from stronger political formations.
“William Ruto is not going to form a coalition with ODM. William Ruto is going to the next election with one party. There will be no ODM in 2027,” he said.
ODm fall

Caleb Amisi continues to state that, in the wake of the imminent downfall of the party, and with some members within the party believing that the Orange Party will not survive into 2027, they have decided not to vie for political seats, as they feel their political vehicle has been completely destroyed.
Siaya Governor James Orengo, on his part, has stated that the party Raila built as his legacy is being dismantled day by day.
Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has also come out to express disappointment with the current state of the ODM party.
He expressed deep concern over how what were once the traditional strongholds of the Orange Party have been infiltrated by other parties such as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA). He cited Homa Bay as an example, saying that ODM has weakened to a point where there are discussions about zoning within Luo Nyanza.
“For the first time, I have never heard of zoning in Homa Bay. We have reached a place where we are asking for zoning in Homa Bay; when ODM was strong, we never cared who ran against us,” he stated.
UDA-ODM pact
This comes at a time when the ODM party is considering entering into a joint pact with the President William Ruto-led United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party as part of preparations for the 2027 general elections.

This has sparked cracks within the party, with two factions emerging: Linda Ground and Linda Mwananchi.
