Caleb Amisi pitches tent in Ol Kalou constituency to campaign for his PRM party candidate
By Mabonga Makhanu, June 8, 2026Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has pitched a tent in Ol Kalou Constituency to campaign for People’s Renaissance Movement (PRM) candidate Timothy Kariuki.
In a statement shared on his social media pages on Monday, June 8, 2026, the outspoken legislator urged Kenyans to support Kariuki, whom he described as a humble grassroots candidate determined to bring change to the country.

Amisi stated that he had spent the day walking through the villages of Kindufa, interacting with residents and popularising the #Wantam agenda. He described Kariuki as a little-known hawker from Ol Kalou who has chosen to campaign using a donkey as his means of transport.
“Today I walked down the village of Kindufa, interacting with locals and selling the #WantAM agenda. Timothy Kariuki is a little-known hawker around Ol Kalou who is campaigning using a donkey,” Caleb Amisi said.
“A young man who has decided not to make noise on social media and the streets but to try and participate directly in the change for our country.”
According to Amisi, the aspiring leader has opted to stay away from the noise often associated with social media and street politics, choosing instead to participate directly in efforts aimed at transforming the country.
He called on Kenyans to rally behind Kariuki, arguing that major political revolutions often begin in small villages and remote corners of the country. He added that Kenya was in need of a political renaissance.
Amisi vouches for Kariuki

The Saboti MP also called on other opposition parties, including the Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP), to consider withdrawing their candidates in order to consolidate support behind Kariuki.
Amisi expressed confidence in the PRM candidate, who recently attracted national attention after presenting his nomination papers to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) while riding a donkey. He said Kariuki’s humble campaign style reminded him of his own political journey.
The lawmaker noted that when he first contested the Saboti parliamentary seat in 2013, he found himself in a similar situation, lacking the resources and political influence enjoyed by many of his competitors.
Amisi’s PRM ownership puzzle

The development marks the first time Amisi has publicly and directly associated himself with the People’s Renaissance Movement.
In the past, he had sought to distance himself from the outfit, despite the movement bearing the Renaissance slang which is hugely associated with him, insisting that he was neither its founder nor its owner despite persistent claims linking him to the movement.
PRM has been viewed as a possible political vehicle that the Linda Mwananchi will use in 2027, something that the Edwin Sifuna-led movement principals have denied and dissociated from.
