A row has emerged at the Baringo County Assembly over house leadership committees.

More than 20 Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) are in favour of Kennedy Kiprono to serve as Majority Leader, David Sitoi as Deputy Majority Leader, John Tarus as Majority Whip and Eveline Korir as Deputy Majority Whip.

However, this has contradicted the position of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party National Secretariat.

An email from the Secretary General Cleophas Malala seen by People Daily has maintained that the current leadership of Lawi Kipchumba (Majority Leader), Josphat Lokorio (Deputy Majority Leader), Ernest Kibet (Majority Chief Whip) and Purity Tallam as Deputy Majority Chief Whip still hold office.

Last week, there was drama at the County Assemby after a group of MCAs tried to confront the speaker Vincent Kemboi forcing the sergeant-at-arms to intervene and escort the speaker away.

Speaker Kemboi yesterday called on the UDA party to resolve their internal disagreements to prevent further confusion.

“There is need for clear communication regarding any leadership changes to prevent further disagreements and for the Assembly to discharge its mandate effectively,” said Kemboi.

And in yet another heated debate on Tuesday, the Assembly yet again, amid protests and cheers adopted another report by the house committee on selection if house leadership.
