Amos Kimunya forced to seek security intervention after MPs go rogue in parliament

Once again, the National Assembly on Wednesday witnessed chaos during the controversial Political Parties (Amendment) Bill 2021 debate.
One of the victims of the chaos that mered the House was Majority Leader Amos Kimunya who was almost roughed up by some rogue parliamentarians.
At the time, the Kipipiri MP was attempting to read the amendments that were made in the bill before a group of lawmakers interrupted his address.
The group blocked Kimunya from reading amendments by switching off his microphone and attempting to take away the documents where he had drafted the amendments.
The scuffle between Kimunya and the MPs who are believed to be against the bill prompted the day’s speaker and Kibwezi East MP Jessica Mbalu to ask the parliament’s security officers to guard Kimunya against the rowdy MPs.
“Sergeants-at-arms can the Leader of Majority be protected so that he can move his proposed amendments,” Jessica ordered the security officers.
The chaos witnessed in parliament today, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, comes a week after the bill was first tabled and discussed.
