Amisi embraces Natembeya’s ‘Tawe’ slogan after fallout with Linda Mwananchi

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has embraced Trans Nzoia Governor George Natembeya’s “Tawe” slogan just days after publicly falling out with the Linda Mwananchi movement.

Amisi’s latest political move came after holding lengthy talks with Governor Natembeya at an undisclosed location on Monday, June 29, 2026. According to the first-term legislator, their meeting focused on matters affecting Trans Nzoia County and the wider Western Kenya region.

“Today I held a lengthy discussion with my governor, Trans-Nzoia County @GeorgeNatembeya, about the future of our people and shared values towards the liberation of our country,” Amisi stated.

Amisi’s recent political moves

The meeting comes at a time when the MP has been sending mixed political signals.

Amisi recently announced that he had parted ways with the Edwin Sifuna-led Linda Mwananchi movement after it agreed to work with the United Opposition ahead of the 2027 general election.

He accused the movement of abandoning its original mission by aligning itself with politicians it had initially opposed.

However, despite his criticism of the coalition, Amisi has continued to attend United Opposition rallies and meetings.

Most recently, he skipped a Linda Mwananchi rally at Kivulini Grounds in Thika and instead attended a United Opposition rally in his Saboti constituency, leaving many questioning his political position.

The lawmaker has repeatedly argued that the United Opposition is dominated by leaders who have been in politics for years and have failed to offer meaningful solutions to the country’s challenges.

His appearance alongside some of the same leaders, such as Natembeya, who are key figures within the united opposition, has raised eyebrows among his supporters.

Amisi, who has previously claimed that he was the brains behind the formation of the Linda Mwananchi movement before proposing Edwin Sifuna as its leader, recently announced the formation of a new political outfit dubbed the Renaissance Movement. He said the new movement was necessary because Linda Mwananchi had failed to remain true to its founding objective of sending long-serving politicians into retirement.

Natembeya amisi bromance

The MP has also been one of Governor Natembeya’s early political allies.

During the governor’s rise to national prominence, Amisi described him as a leader destined for greater national responsibilities. He later faulted Natembeya for narrowing his political focus to Trans Nzoia and the Western Kenya region, arguing that the shift had limited his chances of building a national political profile.

Amisi has also declared that he would only support Edwin Sifuna for the presidency if he is named the opposition’s flagbearer in 2027. He has further stated that the only person that Sifuna can deputise is former Chief Justice David Maraga and nobody else within the United Opposition.
