Alai: Sifuna planning to challenge ODM ouster in court

By , February 12, 2026

Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has hinted that the ousted Orange Democratic Movement Secretary General and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna is planning to challenge his removal as ODM Secretary General in court.

Taking to his social media X account on Thursday, February 12, 2026, Alai said that the embattled senator has appeared desperate for the position and is planning to head to the court to challenge his ouster. Alai has challenged Sifuna to go ahead and challenge his ouster, promising him a defeat in court.

“Good morning, Wana ODM. I hear that the brother is going to court. They are desperate for the seat they said they could live without. But we promise to teach them a lesson in the courts, too,” Alai said.

The outspoken Nairobi County MCA has further urged Sifuna to surrender properties that he owes the party following his ouster.

“I organise evictions from ODM. Arudishe mali ya ODM. I hear that he is now destroying the Prado given to him by the Party,” Alai added.

Sifuna’s Ouster

Sentiments from Alai have come after the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) removed Secretary General Edwin Sifuna from office following a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held in Mombasa on Wednesday, February 11, 2026.

The meeting, chaired by party leader Oburu Oginga, resolved that Sifuna be relieved of his duties in line with the party constitution and applicable laws over concerns about discipline within the party’s senior leadership.

“The NEC expressed grave concern over the rising levels of indiscipline within the Party, particularly at the senior leadership level. The Committee underscored that ODM is governed by its Constitution, the rule of law, and collective decision-making through its duly constituted organs,” ODM noted in a statement read by Omanyo.

The ouster of Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna has sparked reactions from leaders in different factions, triggering debate on the widening cracks within the ODM Party.
