Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has told off Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi over his response to UDA Secretary General Cleophas Malala.

Malala had on Wednesday, May 29, 2024, warned Sudi over what he termed as indiscipline.

"I have been deeply concerned by reports of indiscipline amongst a section of elected leaders within our party, UDA. My attention has been drawn to the fact that certain individuals continue to show blatant disrespect to the party leadership," Malala said, moments after landing at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), from China.

"I specifically address recent public sentiments and actions of Githunguri Member of Parliament Gathoni wa Muchomba, Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga."

Sudi's response

In response, Sudi laughed off at Malala's warning, terming him as an 'elevated MCA suffering from illusory superiority'.

Alai while responding to Sudi's remarks urged him to have some respect for MCAs.

Alai's plea to Sudi

According to Alai, MCAs should not be held in low regard since they are more capable and competent that many Members of Parliament.

He urged Sudi not to belittle the MCAs.

"Tell Oscar Sudi not to hold MCAs in low regard. Kindly respect the MCAs. They are more capable and competent than you and many other MPs. Don’t belittle the MCAs," Alai said.

Sudi had been warned alongside his Githunguri counterpart Gathoni Wamuchomba, and Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga.

Malala also warned Cabinet Secretaries Moses Kuria (Public Service and Delivery Management), and Kipchumba Murkomen (Transport and Infrastructure).

UDA disciplinary action

Malala warned the leaders that the party would take disciplinary action against them should they fail to change their behaviour.

The Cabinet Secretaries were urged to either resign and join politics, or focus on their dockets.

"Additionally, it has come to my attention that some Cabinet Secretaries have been involving themselves in political activities, contrary to the law which requires them to remain apolitical. Hon Moses Kuria, the Cabinet Secretary for Public Service, Gender and Affirmative Action, your primary responsibility is to serve the people within your docket. Should you wish to engage in politics, you are welcome to resign," Malala stated.

Recently, there has been a rift within the UDA party pitting the top leadership and a section of the members.

Oscar Sudi over the weekend faced off with Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua who warned him against meddling in the affairs of other constituencies.

Sudi fired back warning that he was not the type of person that could be threatened.
