Alai faults Aladwa for opposing ODM NDC, insists Sifuna must be kicked out
By Mustafa Juma, January 12, 2026Kileleshwa Member of County Assembly (MCA) Robert Alai has faulted Makadara Member of Parliament George Aladwa for opposing calls for the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) National Delegates Convention (NDC).
Taking to his official X account on the night of Sunday, January 11, 2026, Alai termed Aladwa’s opposition to the ODM NDC as a joke.
He insisted that the NDC must be called so that the Orange Party can formally kick out its Secretary General Edwin Sifuna and other rebels.
“Aladwa is now joking. We must remove Sifuna and other fools at the NDC and during the day,” Alai stated.

Alai’s remarks come after Aladwa argued that ODM delegates had already met in Mombasa and ratified Oburu and other officials as the leaders of the party.
According to the Makadara lawmaker, those calling for NDC are traitors intending to cause internal rifts and sell the ODM party.
“Tunasupport vikamilifu our party leader Daktari Oburu Oginga. Na sisi kama Makadara tunasema tulikuwa kule Mombasa kukaidhinisha Oburu Oginga na wale wengine. Wale wanaita uchaguzi ni wale wachochezi wanaotaka kuharibu na kuuza chama chetu,” Aladwa said in a public address over the weekend.

Calls for ODM NDC
Migori County Senator Eddy Oketch had also urged Oburu, in his capacity as the ODM party leader, to call the party’s NDC.
Taking to his official Facebook page on Thursday, January 8, 2026, Oketch said the convention should be called to resolve the ongoing wrangles within the party.
“Party leader, please call the NDC. We sort this once and for all,” Senator Oketch stated, referring to Sifuna’s meeting with senior ODM members, including Siaya Governor James Orengo and former Attorney General Amos Wako, aimed at ending the internal disputes.
Embakasi East MP Babu Owino had also called for the ODM party’s NDC.
Sifuna’s ouster
Other ODM members have also championed the expulsion of Sifuna from the party.

In a statement shared on his X account on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, Homa Bay Town Member of Parliament Peter Kaluma urged ODM to strip Sifuna of his Senate leadership over what he terms as betrayal of the political outfit.
Kaluma compared Sifuna’s conduct with how the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) removed Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale from his Senate Majority Whip position after his conduct was deemed inappropriate during the November 2025 Malava by-election.
