Abdi Guyo cleared to run for Isiolo governor’s seat

By , June 6, 2022

Former Nairobi County Assembly Majority Leader Abdi Hassan Guyo was Monday cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to vie for the Isiolo County gubernatorial seat.

Shortly after being issued the certificate, hundreds of residents broke into dances and songs as they escorted him to town where he addressed a mammoth crowd.

The politician, who comes from the Borana community and has picked his running mate James Lowasa from the Turkana community, has received good reception as the people’s preferred gubernatorial candidate.

Guyo’s opponents

Others in the race for governor seat include former Matopeni Spring Valley MCA Halakhe Dida and former governor Godana Doyo.

Guyo, however, called for a peaceful campaign and called on the resident to elect a visionary leader who has the interest of the people at heart.

“We’ve been cleared and we are now ready for the contest,” he told his supporters.
