ODM party boss Raila Odinga spent the afternoon of Thursday, May 27 with 2022 Presidential hopeful Mukhisa Kituyi.

Raila whose absence during the National Prayer Day meeting at Parliament buildings didn’t go unnoticed shared photos of himself, Mukhisa and and his wife at Mukhisa’s home.

“Spent part of the day catching up with Dr Mukhisa Kituyi and his wife at their residence. We compared notes and exchanged views on several topical issues. Good seeing this family,” Raila said in a post on social media.

For over eight years, Mukhisa was at the helm of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) until in February 2021 when he resigned and came back to Kenya.

The 65 year-old who served in both President Daniel Toroitich and Mwai Kibaki’s governments jetted back to prepare for the race to replace President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In a recent tour of the coast region, Mukhisa sold his candidacy to the region describing himself as an incorruptible leader.

“If any of my children is involved in corruption, I will let the force of law deal with them appropriately and swiftly. And if you are sentenced to jail, you will serve jail. I am going to announce that to the nation of Kenya,” Mukhisa said.

In February, Raila and Mukhisa met for the first time in what the ODM party leader described as a meeting “after a long time”.

Both Raila and Mukhisa were part of the Young Turks, a team of firebrand opposition MPs credited with the return of multiparty politics in the 1990s.
