Even before the dust settles at Precious Talents School Nairobi where at least seven lives were lost on Monday, images of the structural status of a Class Seven block at Mungai Primary School in Gatundu North constituency paints a dim picture of many run-down schools across the country.

At the school located at Gatei village, pupils were, after Nairobi tragedy news broke, moved out of the classrooms to start learning under a Mango tree.

The block has two huge cracks with some of the stones having fallen from the building that is said to have been constructed less than five years ago.

Irate parents who spoke to the press said they have been living in fear as their kids have told them of the collapsing class but their numerous reports to the school management have been ignored.

Speaking on phone, area MP Wanjiku Kibe admitted that there is a crisis at the school but added that her office was working on the matter.

“The school has been allocated Sh4.6 million in the 2018/19 financial year for renovations. Work will begin very soon. Procurement process will commence this week,” she said on WhatsApp.
