Former Deputy President Geoffrey Rigathi Gachagua has now promised to make a major political pronouncement in January 2025.

Speaking on Sunday, November 24, 2024, the former second-in-command revealed that he had been engaging with locals since his ouster from the government.

He noted that he had convened various meetings with religious leaders, entrepreneurs, and other like-minded individuals, and he will announce their resolution in January 2025.

Gachagua, who extended his onslaught on the Kenya Kwanza administration for failing to honour campaign promises.

The former Mathira Member of Parliament maintained that his ejection from office had given him a better perspective of who President William Ruto is, and he is now ready to engage him knowing the type of leader he truly is.

Taking a swipe at his former boss, Gachagua stated he made a big political blunder for believing him fully because he was carrying a Bible.

Nonetheless, Gachagua made it clear that his ouster barely two years into power would give leaders time to evaluate and make the right decision in the future.

“We are talking with religious leaders, business people, and other leaders with whom we share the same ideologies. This January, I will inform you what we will have agreed on.

The President did a good thing to bring this war with the people from the Mt. Kenya region because we now know him. Previously, we didn’t know him better, but have we not known him?

“Now we shall engage you, knowing very well the person you are. We talked without knowing you well because you had a Bible.

“It is good you have brought out his war early enough because you could have caused us a lot of trouble if it came out in your second term.”

Political realignment

At the same time, Gachagua noted that his impeachment is likely to give rise to major political realignment in the Mt Kenya region.

The former DP predicted that the political movement that would crop up from the region would have more impact than the 2002 realignment that catapulted former President Mwai Kibaki to power, ending Daniel Moi’s 24-year rule.

“The political movement that would start in this mountain, 2002 will look like a joke. We shall join other Kenyans to get on the right trajectory and define our destiny,” he stated.

He castigated people around the president for lying to him and failing to paint a real picture of what is ailing the nation.

Gachagua noted that failing to understand the real issues facing the people has made Ruto’s popularity dwindle, leading to public rejection, including his recent booing in Embu.
