Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed that he receives information about the plot to impeach him whenever the meetings are held.

Speaking during a televised interview on Citizen TV on Friday night September 20, 2024, Gachagua disclosed that despite the secrecy surrounding these meetings, some of the attendees are his allies, providing him with updates on what transpires during and after the gatherings.

Gachagua went further to claim that meetings aimed at impeaching him have taken place in Nyahururu and at the home of a Cabinet Secretary, whom he chose not to name.

He also added that money has exchanged hands during one of these meetings in Kitsuru, though he refrained from revealing the specific amounts.

“I am a consumer of information. When you call people for meetings, most of them are our people. We get to know about these things while the meetings are still going on or immediately afterward. Meetings have been held in Nyahururu—we know what was discussed. Meetings have been held in Kitsuru, in the house of a Cabinet Secretary—we know what was discussed and how much money was exchanged,” Gachagua stated.

The Deputy President stressed that these activities are no secret to the public, asserting that Kenyans are well aware of the impeachment plot.

“All of this is in the public domain. People know, and let no one underestimate the intelligence of the Kenyan people. Even before things happen, they are already aware,” he added.

Earlier, Gachagua addressed the possibility of his impeachment during a speech to traders at Marikiti Market in Nairobi on Friday, September 20, 2024.

In his speech, the Deputy President claimed that those pushing for his removal from office were merely attempting to intimidate him, but he emphasized that only the Kenyan people have the power to oust him from his position.

Gachagua challenged the plotters to be open about their intentions and face the public, instead of conspiring behind closed doors.

Gachagua also emphasized that any attack on him is an attack on the citizens who voted for him, reaffirming his commitment to the Kenyan people.
