Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has extended his onslaught on the Kenya Kwanza administration days after his ouster.
Speaking on Sunday, November 17, 2024, the former DP stated that all eyes will be on President William Ruto’s administration to see how they will execute their mandate and honour campaign promises since he is out of the way.
Gachagua insisted that Kenyans would be keen to see if they will finish stalled projects and lower high taxes since he is not there to blame anymore.
Gachagua echoes Uhuru’s words
Gachagua who attended a church service in Kajiado North, told the congregants that he is not stressed at all following his ejection from office by way of impeachment.
He explained that he only follows the country’s proceedings on television and radio just like former President Uhuru Kenyatta who used the same words during a consecration ceremony in Embu on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
Uhuru who made a rare public appearance stated that he barely has much to say but just follows the country’s proceedings on TV stations and on radio.
“Saizi mimi nimerelax sina stress. Hakuna mtu ananilaumu kwa ile shida iko Kenya, wengine walaumiwe wajibu. Mimi sasa ni mtu wa kuangalia ata Uhuru Kenyatta jana alisema yeye anaangalia tu TV, anaskiza radio, ata mimi naangalia TV, naskiza radio.
“Let us wait and see how things are going. Kama Rigathi Gachagua ndio alikuwa shida ndio mulikuwa munaweka ushuru ikuwe juu si mpunguze sasa juu niko nje. Izi barabara zote zimesimama kama ni yeye alikuwa amesimamisha si mumalize.
(Right now I am relaxed, I don’t have stress. No one will blame me for problems facing the country, let other people take the blame and be answerable. As former President Uhuru Kenyatta said yesterday, he only watches TV and listens to radio, that is what I am also doing right now.
(Let us wait and see how things are going. If Rigathi Gachagua was the problem so that you raised the taxes, now reduce it because I am out. All these stalled road projects, if I was the problem, then finish them) Gachagua stated.
At the same time, Gachagua warned the Kenya Kwanza administration not to take Kenyans for a ride as they are intelligent and can make informed decisions.
“Kenyans are very intelligent people, and I think many people take them for granted. These people know everything,” Gachagua added.
This comes a day after he attended the same event as President Ruto in Embu on Saturday, November 16, 2024.
During the event, Gachagua was not granted an opportunity to speak and he was not allocated a sitting space in the VIP section where Ruto, Deputy President Kithure Kindiki and Uhuru sat.
Gachagua was not accorded a red carpet reception during the event as he was forced to wade on the muddy ground to access his sitting position.
Nonetheless, the former DP was warmly received by the residents when Arch-Bishop Anthony Muheria recognised his presence.
