Police in Narok County have arrested Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johanna Ngeno and Olulunga Member of County Assembly Jefferson Lang’at.

The two politicians were arrested on Tuesday at Olmekenyu on their way to Mau Forest to assess the situation following the planned eviction in the area by the government.

“We have committed no crime by visiting the schools and we had not yet reached the forest,” Ngeno told Emoo FM on the phone.

The planned eviction will affect 15 schools and 60, 000 people are expected to leave the area which the government said is part of the Mau Forest Complex.

Police say the two will be held at Narok Police Station.
