Egerton University has closed its Njoro and Nakuru Town campuses indefinitely following a student unrest on Wednesday December 4.

“Following unrest by students over the demand to be allowed to sit for exams without having cleared fee, the senate has resolved to close the university,” read the statement in part.

In the morning hours of Wednesday, students took to the streets to protest fees payment, disrupting operations within the university.

Police engaged in running battles with the rowdy students.
