“I was honoured to be sworn in as Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry. Kenya faces urgent environmental challenges that require innovative solutions. As I assume this role, I am committed to tackling climate change, deforestation, and environmental degradation,” he stated.

Duale, a former Cabinet Secretary for Defence, outlined his goal of achieving environmental targets and setting standards for sustainable development through science-based and data-driven approaches.

“Our goal is to meet our environmental targets and establish a standard for sustainable development through science-based, data-driven solutions while collaborating with communities, stakeholders, and international partners,” he added.

He believes that collaboration between the National Government, county governments, the private sector, and civil society is essential for creating a greener Kenya.

“I am committed to transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in all our initiatives. By working with all levels of government, civil society, and the private sector, we can achieve a greener, more resilient Kenya. I look forward to engaging with you all and building a sustainable future for our country and future generations,” Duale emphasized.

Duale has served as a Member of Parliament in the National Assembly of Kenya since the 2007 parliamentary elections.

Initially elected with the Orange Democratic Movement, he switched to the United Republican Party for the 2013 elections and was re-elected.
