The Cabinet Secretary for Defence Aden Daule has emphasized a comprehensive approach to combating drug abuse in the country, including illicit brew and substances like Muguka.

Duale went on and called up the whole society approach when it comes to the fight in the production, distribution and consumption of drugs.

“The fight against drug and substance abuse calls for a collective, whole-of-society approach. As we fight the production, distribution, and consumption of the illicit brew with the same emphasis we must combat other substances Muguka includes,” he said.

Urging the deputy president to call for a conference and discuss the effects of Muguka,  the former Garissa Township MP further disclosed that Gachagua once spearheaded the war against drug and drug abuse in various parts of the country.

“I have told the deputy president before that after Ramadan he needs to do a major conference in Garissa, North Eastern bringing all our leaders now that there is an emerging story of Muguka I will urge the deputy president in the next two weeks to call that conference because is the deputy president of Kenya to call that conference and we candidly discuss and show evidence of the effects of Muguka to certain region and certain communities so fighting the drug must be across board,” he said.

“Before this war on Muguka, there was a conversation in the country spearheaded by the deputy president about the war against drug and drug abuse this government said they were going to fight drug abuse the deputy president did a leaders conference in central Kenya, and the rift way bringing together all leaders political and religious fighting alcohol, bhang and all types of drugs he went to the coast and brought together thousands of leaders,”.

The CS went on to say that as a country we can’t be selective when it comes to the war against drugs adding that the fight against muguka should be given an equal measure as the fight against illicit brew.

“From where we sit as a Muslim community in various parts of this country and even unmuslim communities there are many Kenyans who believe Muguka is a drug and is destroying a lot of young people so I want to say we can’t be very selective if we fight alcohol we must fight muguka,” he said.
