Three police officers have denied stealing Sh 75.9 million G4S staff.
APC Chris Machogi, Corporal Duncan Luvuga and APC Boniface Mutua who were charged alongside Vincent Owuor, Alex Mutuku and Francis Muriuki also denied malicious damage to property.
They are accused of damaging 36 cassettes, 11 purge bins all valued at Sh 1.2 million the property of G4S.
The prosecution opposed their release on bail saying there are other suspects who are still at large and if they are released on bail, they will interfere with their arrest.
According to the prosecution, the accused persons were arrested away from their fixture abode and thus that make them a flight risk.
However, lawyer Cliff Ombeta who was representing all the accused persons argued that there were no compelling reasons to deny the accused bail.
He noted that the accused were tortured in police custody and asked the court to release them on reasonable bail terms.
Magistrate Francis Andayi released them on Sh1 million bond with two sureties.
“I am not satisfied that either one of the reasons stated in an affidavit give a single compelling reason to deny them bond,” he ruled.
