Kenya’s umbrella body of the private sector plans to set up a COVID-19 action platform to raise awareness of measures required to minimize the impact of the virus, an official said on Monday.

Carole Karuga, CEO of Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA), said in a statement that the platform will have a 24-hour call center and portal to share business and workplace health-related information for all sectors and business sizes.

“The business community under the umbrella of the Kenya Private Sector Alliance (KEPSA) has set up a business action platform team and is developing in the next two days a business COVID-19 action platform like other countries have done,” Karuga said.

The east African nation has so far confirmed three cases of COVID-19  and announced drastic measures aimed at minimizing the spread of the deadly novel coronavirus.

The action platform will also spearhead the development of a framework on the economic impact of the virus as well as mitigation measures in collaboration with the government. (Xinhua)
