The government has extended the suspension of international flights as coronavirus cases reach 138. Health Cabinet Administrative Secretary Mary Mwangangi has confirmed 16 more coronavirus cases bringing the number of active cases to 138.
Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia said that the decision to extend the suspension will avert possible importation of Covid-19 cases.
CS Macharia, however, exempted cargo flights and repatriation planes. The CS also revealed a planned cargo flight from Kenya to China to pick medical equipment for the treatment of Covid-19.
Of the 16 new cases the Ministry announced on April 5, 15 are from Kenya while one is from Nigeria. Most of the cases(11) had a history of travel. The rest four were contacted during quarantine, said Ms Mwangangi.
