The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) Eldoret Diocese yesterday dedicated a special prayer for the embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and his family over the impending impeachment motion against him  on Tuesday in the National Assembly.

Reverend Canon Provost Bernard Kosgey led hundreds of church members in praying for Gachagua as he asked God to help him overcome the impeachment motion that is aimed at sending him home in the event that succeeds.

He said the DP and his close family members were going through a trying moment in their lives noting that it was not fair for the government that he has served as the second in command for barely two ears to expose him in that manner.

“It should be understood that the Deputy President has a wife, children and other relatives and thereby exposing him that manner in the name of impeachment is not fair at all. Let not only pray for him but also stand with him in this difficult and trying moment,” said Kosgey.

The cleric faulted the Kenya Kwanza regime for prioritizing the impeachment of the Deputy President at the expense of solving myriad of challenges facing millions of Kenyans including high cost of living, unemployment and lack of quality health care services in public hospitals.

“The country is facing a major crisis in various sectors of our economy which the government should be addressing instead of going for one issue of the DP which does not concern them but just two people,” explained the provost.

He regretted that the issue of DP had been trivialized and personalized by those in power and asked Kenyans to pray for the DP and the country at large for the sake of unity and stability in the wake of heightened political temperature in the country.
