All matters being handled at the Court of Appeal in Kisumu have been adjourned until January 2021 as the appellant judges pay respect to their colleague Justice Otieno Odek who died on Monday.

“Out of respect to our departed colleague, we will adjourn all our sittings until January next year,” said Justice Asikhe Makhandia.

The body of Odek was found in his Groovehut apartment, Milimani Estate in Kisumu partly covered with a blanket with one of his hands supporting his head.

Among the adjourned cases was the hearing of a case in which retired President Daniel Moi appealed against a rulling on a 53 acre land case in Eldoret.

The rulling which was delivered on May 8,2019 in favour of former MP Noah Chelugui at the High Court in Eldoret by the Environment and Land Court Justice Antony Ombwayo required retired President to pay Sh1 billion compensation.
