Saboti Member of Parliament (MP) Caleb Amisi has defended opposition leader Raila Odinga against critics accusing him of joining the government when he should be overseeing it.
In his statement shared via X on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, Amisi told off Raila’s critics noting that he was not born to suffer for Kenyans who openly oppose his presidential ambitions.
While imploring Raila’s critics to leave him alone, Amisi pointed out that the majority of his (Raila’s) detractors have always given reasons not to vote for the opposition leader, even though he offered himself five times.
He went on to state that the new generation must take up the mantle and stand tall to fight for themselves and recover the country.
“Give Baba a break. @RailaOdinga was not born to suffer for Kenyans who don’t want to elect him. He has offered himself 5 times to change the country, but you have had myriad of reasons to deny him votes. It is the time for the new generation to throw themselves on the stage and recover Kenya from the yoke of captivity,” Amisi wrote.
The ODM MP also voiced support for Raila’s African Union Commission (AUC) candidacy and wished him luck as he pursued the seat.
“Baba go yee to the AU and conquer Africa. You have my blessings and support. Am now 36 years old, above the constitutional age of a youth. We are being called upon as a generation to rise up and do what’s needs to be done. If we succeed, we shall give glory to God, if we fail, age is on our side. Kenya needs a renaissance!”
