KRA to temporarily shut down ICMS for system maintenance in April

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has issued a public notice to inform stakeholders, including importers, exporters, and shipping lines, of scheduled maintenance for the Integrated Customs Management System (ICMS).

In a notice on Tuesday, March 24, 2026, the authority said the system maintenance will run from Saturday, April 4, at 6:00 PM to Monday, April 6, at 6:00 AM.

According to the authority, the exercise will affect services relied on by importers, exporters, clearing agents, and other stakeholders in the logistics chain.

“Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) wishes to inform Partner Government Agencies, Importers, Exporters, Clearing Agents, Shipping Lines, and the public of a scheduled maintenance of the Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS),” KRA noted.

Advisory Notice

The KRA said in order to minimise potential operational disruptions, all users are to pre-lodge urgent documents, complete necessary payments, and prioritise the clearance of perishable or time-sensitive cargo before the scheduled downtime begins.

“To minimize operational disruptions, stakeholders are advised to: Pre-lodge Documents – Submit urgent declarations, complete payments, and clear cargo before the scheduled downtime, Clear Urgent Cargo – Prioritize clearance of perishable and time-sensitive consignments in advance,” KRA stated.

According to the authority, the maintenance is aimed at improving system performance, enhancing stability and reliability, and strengthening security.

Why Maintenance?

It is also expected to deliver a smoother user experience and reduce customer complaints.

“This scheduled maintenance is expected to deliver the following benefits: Improved system performance and speed, enhanced stability and reliability, better user experience with fewer customer complaints, strengthened system security, and easier future maintenance,” KRA stated.

The authority also urged the stakeholders to prioritise clearance of perishable and time-sensitive consignments in advance.

“KRA regrets any inconvenience caused and appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders as we continue to improve service delivery,” KRA added.

Recent similar maintenance

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), in an announcement released on Friday, February 6, 2026, issued a notice informing the public of a planned, temporary interruption of its Integrated Customs Management System (iCMS) to allow for routine maintenance.

The iCMS is a platform that supports the country’s customs operations, facilitating cargo clearance, revenue collection, and cross-border trade processes at ports of entry across the country.

The downtime runs for 36 hours, starting at 6 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026, and ending at 6 am on Monday, February 9, 2026.

“We wish to inform partner government agencies, importers, exporters, clearing agents, shipping lines, and the general public of scheduled major maintenance for the iCMS,” KRA announced.
