KQ taps IOM to combat trafficking

By , July 8, 2024

Kenya Airways has forged a partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Kenya to intensify efforts against human trafficking and enhance the protection of migrants.

Both organizations signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize their collaboration aimed at promoting safe, orderly, and regular migration within Kenya and beyond.

The MoU, signed in Nairobi, will see the airline’s staff receive specialized training from IOM to recognize and respond to migrants in vulnerable situations.

“This MoU marks a significant milestone in our efforts to safeguard the rights and dignity of migrants. By joining forces with Kenya Airways, we can enhance our outreach and impact, ensuring that migration is safe and beneficial for all,” said IOM Chief of Mission Dimanche Sharon.

Under the agreement, Kenya Airways and IOM will implement measures to identify and reduce trafficking, facilitate regular migration pathways and promote the protection of migrants.
