Kenyans excelling abroad to be feted at Nairobi meeting
Selected Kenyans living abroad will for the first time be feted for their accomplishments and contribution to the local economy.
Kenya Diaspora Alliance, a diaspora lobby championing the interests of Kenyans abroad has announced it is set to award Kenyans living outside the country who have excelled in their respective careers and made impact in the economy of the country.
Dr Shem Ochuodho (pictured), Global chairman of the organisation announced the launch of the 2023 Diaspora Awards, saying the event is set to celebrate and recognise the remarkable contributions and achievements of individuals from diverse Kenyan diaspora communities across the world.
Positive influence
“The Kenya Diasporas Alliance recognises the awards as a beacon of acknowledgement for individuals who have not only demonstrated excellence, innovation, and impact but have also showcased the positive influence of diaspora communities on a global scale,” he said.
Ochuodho said the awards will be presented at the Kenya Diaspora Homecoming Convention (KDHC) 2023 that will bring together exceptional individuals from various fields, highlighting the invaluable contributions of diaspora communities worldwide. It is set to be held from December 6 to 8.
This networking and partnership event annually brings together Kenyans living and working abroad to celebrate the year that has passed, network, make projections, and receive updates on upcoming opportunities and activities.
Musalia Mudavadi, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs is expected to engage with Kenyans from over 127 countries in the convention to deepen the ministry’s relationship with diaspora, according to the lobby.
