Kenya Coast Tourism Association KCTA has entered into partnership with Uganda counterparts in a quest to maximise tourism sector potential between the two countries.

Speaking during a joint media briefing in Mombasa, KCTA Chairman Victor Shitakha (pictured) flanked by Uganda Consul general Poul Mukumbya noted that players in the two countries will now need to work together and build networks and synergies. “A significant number of tourists from Europe, America and beyond visit Kenya’s coastal region, yet there are many other attractions in Uganda that are not available in the coastal region, this way Uganda who are our partners cant reap from that,” he noted.

Shitakha said KCTA has therefore stepped up its engagement with the Ugandan travel market under a strategy that seeks to make Kenya a top of mind business and leisure destination in the East African region.

To maximise the potential, key tourism sector players in Kenya Coastal region and Uganda have organised a conference, familiarisation trips and exhibition with an intention of maximising the tourism potential.

“We want to equip key tourism players from Uganda and Kenya coast region so that they are informed with first-hand experience of key tourism attractions in Uganda and Kenya,” said Shitakha.

The conference set for November 17 will bring together over 100 Uganda tourism players and exhibitors.

Mukumbya said the conference under the theme “strengthening Networks, synergies and diversity to maximise the tourism potential between Uganda and the Kenya Coast region” will be a game changer.
