Kenya Railways warns public against booking tickets through fake platforms

In a statement on the Kenya Railways official X account on Monday, April 13, 2026, the company warned members of the public of fraudsters impersonating Kenya Railways.
According to Kenya Railways, the fraudsters have been luring unsuspecting members of the public into booking tickets through fake and unofficial booking platforms.
While sounding the alarm, the Government entity has urged members of the public to be vigilant and book tickets through the official Kenya Railways platforms.
“Protect yourself from fraud! Beware of fraudsters impersonating Kenya Railways and luring unsuspecting members of the public into booking tickets through fake and unofficial booking platforms. We urge the public to remain vigilant and book through our official Kenya Railways platforms,” Kenya Railways stated.
At the same time, the Parastatal issued a step-by-step guide on booking a train ticket, which can be done online through the Kenya Railways official website and the Unstructured Supplementary Service Data(USSD).
To avoid online fraud, members of the public are also provided with the option of a physical booking at the Kenya Railways Madaraka Express Passenger Service station.

Fake job alert
Meanwhile, the report on online fraud comes days after Kenya Railways issued a public warning, cautioning Kenyans against fraudulent job advertisements circulating on social media.
In a post shared on X on Thursday, April 2, 2026, the authority raised an alarm over fake recruitment notices targeting unsuspecting job seekers.
The Kenya Railways urged Kenyans to verify all job-related information directly through its official platforms, including http://krc.co.ke.
“We wish to alert members of the public about a fake job advertisement doing the rounds on various social media platforms. We strongly advise job seekers to be cautious and verify any job adverts through our website: http://krc.co.ke,” Kenya Railways announced.
