Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Saturday, November 1

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions scheduled for Saturday, November 1, 2025, affecting selected areas across the Nairobi, North Rift, and Mt. Kenya regions.

According to the notice issued by Kenya Power on Friday, October 31, 2025, the maintenance exercise is part of the company’s ongoing efforts to enhance electricity reliability and improve network stability countrywide.

”Good Evening. The following areas will be on a planned power maintenance tomorrow, Saturday, 1st November 2025,” the utility provider said in a brief statement.

Nairobi Region

In Nairobi, two key areas will experience interruptions lasting from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 pm.

Githurai 45 and its environs will be affected, including Co-op Bank, Naivas, Kingdon Sacco, Mt. Kenya Kassmatt, Kwa DO, Mukinye, Mwiki School, Kimbo Police, Farmers Choice, and parts of Clay City. Accordingly, businesses in these locations are advised to plan, as power will remain off for most of the day.

Still in the country’s capital city, the Statehouse Road area will also face a scheduled outage during the same hours. Affected locations include parts of Dennis Pritt Road, Kitale Lane, Likoni Lane, St. Georges School, Total Dennis Pritt, Royal Media, Shell Dennis, Cotton Avenue, Maalim Juma Road, and Rose Avenue.

North Rift region (Parts of Uasin Gishu County)

In the North Rift region, Kenya Power has announced that a power interruption will affect Kimumu and Buffalo Millers areas in Uasin Gishu County. The outage is expected to run from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., targeting Buffalo Millers, Sinai, Probation, Kambi Nairobi, and nearby customers.

Mt. Kenya region (Parts of Isiolo County)

The Mt. Kenya region, particularly parts of Isiolo County, will also experience a power outage from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Areas affected include Mwangaza Water Supply, the Airport area, Kandebe Market, 78 Tank Battalion, Kambi Sharrif, Osman Ndima, Ntulele Primary School, Kisima Borehole, and neighbouring customers.

Initially, Kenya Power had urged all customers in the affected areas to treat all power lines as live during the interruption periods as safety precautions. Notably, normal supply has been restored promptly upon completion of the scheduled maintenance in previous interruptions.

According to its previous explanation, Kenya Power revealed that the planned shutdowns are part of routine network upgrades aimed at minimising unplanned outages and ensuring consistent power delivery across the country.
