Fuel prices remain unchanged in latest review

For the fourth month in a row, fuel prices will remain unchanged, with the government maintaining its cushioned to consumers against high prices through the petroleum subsidy facility. Accordingly, between February 14 to March 15, 2022, when the next review is due, prices of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will remain unchanged, said the regulator, Energy, Petroleum, Regulatory Authority (Epra). “The applicable pump prices for this cycle will be maintained at the same level as in the immediately previous cycle. The Government will utilise the Petroleum Development Levy to cushion consumers from the otherwise high prices,” said Epra Director-General Daniel Kiptoo.
Consequently, in Nairobi, a litre of Super petrol will retail at Sh129.72, diesel Sh110.60 and Kerosene Sh103.54, similar to the previous month.
In Mombasa, the cost will be maintained at Sh127.46 for petrol, Sh108.36 for diesel and Sh101.29 for kerosene while in Kisumu, the commodity will trade at Sh130.12, Sh111.30 and Sh104.26 for petrol, diesel and kerosene respectively.
During the review period, the average landed cost of imported Super Petroleum decreased by 0.86 per cent from $601.97 per cubic metre in December 2021 to $596.79 per cubic metre in January 2022.
