Bomet: Over 15,000 animals to get vaccinated

More than 15,000 animals in Bomet county will be vaccinated against East Coast Fever(ECF) disease.

Governor Hillary Barchok said the Sh15 million World Bank programme will be carried out in six wards prone to the disease.

The programme being implemented by the veterinary department in collaboration with Kenya Climate Smart Agriculture Project will see animals vaccinated at zero cost in the month-long exercise.

Speaking during the launch, Barchok said dairy farming is the leading source of income in the county saying there is need to ensure farmers are cushioned from unforeseeable misfortunes.

Project’s coordinator Julius Kenduiywa said the programme will improve food security
