Kajiado governor UDA candidate Katoo Ole Metito did not vote for himself.

Interestingly, the Kajiado South Member of Parliament kept off his Ilntilal polling station and constituency and instead spent most of his time in the populous Kajiado North Constituency.

Asked why he did not vote for himself, the legislature who garnered 72,629 votes and trounced three other contestants simply said that participating in the exercise would have pitted him against his loyal supporters some of whom were contesting for other various positions.

He argued that voting would have meant that he votes for a Member of the County Assembly (MCA), MP, Senator and Woman Rep while he had no preferred candidate.

Katoo says he kept off voting due to the fact that all the various aspirants who were seeking elective seats were his die-hard supporters and that he never wanted to create anxiety.

“I never wanted to vote because I thought it would mean I’m taking sides yet all the aspirants are my supporters. I also never wanted the attention that comes with voting as an aspirant,” Katoo said.

Instead, Katoo says his action was aimed at proving his impartiality among the contestants and allowing the will of the voters to prevail.

He also says that he has ensured that the contestants’ support for his governorship bid remains intact even after the UDA primaries.
