Kigumo Member of Parliament Ruth Mwaniki has urged Deputy President William Ruto to patiently wait for his time to lead the country and he should let his opponent Raila Odinga take the leadership mantle.

Mwaniki said Odinga is the most deserving candidate to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta whose term is coming to an end next month.

She said Ruto should stop “chest thumping”, creating a notion that he must become the next president, instead, he should wait for the polls to be conducted.

“I want to tell our Deputy President that this is not his time to lead the country and he should wait for his turn.

“Any deserving leader will show his character by being humble and patient until it’s his turn,” she said.

The MP said Odinga has contested for presidency four times without giving up and his time has come to lead the nation.

“There will be no harm if Ruto waits for his right time because it will surely come but for now he should accept that Odinga will be the next president of this country,” she stated.

Odinga, she said, is a seasoned leader who has a vast knowledge on governance, and thus he is the best bet for the nation.

Further, she said Karua, who is Odinga’s running mate, is equal to the task and the duo will deliver quality leadership to the public.

“Our nation will be safe in the hands of these two and we have a lot of faith in them that they will steer the country to greater heights,” she added.
