Petitioner moves to court to block Sakaja from city race

By , June 29, 2022

A voter yesterday moved to the High Court to block the gubernatorial bid of Nairobi Senator Johnson Sakaja in the August 9 polls.

Dennis Wahome asked the court to bar the electoral agency from printing  ballot papers for Nairobi until the case is heard and determined.

He has sued IEBC, Dispute Resolution Committee, Nairobi County Returning Officer and Sakaja over the fake degree saga.

Through lawyer Njoki Mboce, he challenges the decision of the Dispute Resolution Committee to clear Sakaja to vie for Nairobi governor seat.

“If this petition is not certified urgent and determined forthwith, there is a danger that IEBC shall proceed to include Sakaja’s name on the ballot papers for the county governor election prior to the determination of the issues raised herein,” Wahome claims.
