Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) candidate in Kajiado Central Elija Memusi has successfully defended his seat after garnering 23,357 votes.

His closest competitor Moses Birisha (Wiper) garnered 22,877 votes, paving way for Memusi to secure himself a third term in office.

However, Birisha disputed the results saying there was rigging during the vote counting.

He claimed the original polling stations results forms do not tally with the final one and there is a lot of cancelation in them.

He said he will seek court intervention.

Memusi ready for the court battle

Speaking while receiving his certificate at the Masai Technical Training Institute Kajiado, Memusi who lauded voters of his constituency for the high turnout, said he is ready for the legal battle with Birisha.

Memusi further urged his supporters and those of his opponents to maintain peace and instead let the matter be resolved in court.

“I am happy that our people have voted and received results while maintaining peace. I urge all of us to keep calm and allow the law to take its course,” Memusi said.

Some 51,459 voters of the total 65, 823 participated in the polls.

Antony Kiroken (UDA), Linah Sankale (TND) and Rachel Lenku (ANC) garnered
4,562, 257, and 136 respectively.
