My main competitor in August elections is Uhuru Kenyatta – Ruto

Kenya Kwanza Alliance presidential flag bearer William Ruto has sensationally claimed that his main competitor in the August poll is President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Speaking in Karen during a meeting with the delegation of the International Republic Institute (IRI) and the National Democratic Institute (NDI), Ruto said the dynamics of 2022 are so different, bearing in mind that his boss is on the opposing side.
“In the last election, my boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta, and I were on the same side. In this election, we are on different sides,” Ruto said.
According to the United Democratic Alliance party leader, Uhuru’s role as the chair of the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party governing council has pushed the ODM leader Raila Odinga to the periphery.
“From where I seat am running more against my boss than his candidate. And that’s the real computation because the President is the chairman of the party where my competitor is now running,” he stated.
Speaking in Murang’a on March 21, Ruto pleaded with President Uhuru to disassociate himself with the 2022 succession politics.
“Even if you don’t want to support me, please, why don’t you leave me with this Kitendawili man (Raila) I fight with him? I am pleading with him with a lot of respect. President, please sit aside. Please leave me alone with Raila. We will be done with him early in the morning,” Ruto said.
Even though President Uhuru is yet to hit the campaign trail, he has publicly called on Kenyans to vote for the ODM leader, saying he stands a better chance to continue his legacy.
At some point, the Kenya Kwanza Alliance brigade accused the Head of State of using government resources to fund Raila Odinga’s campaign.
