Ruto’s Nakuru point man Kimani Ngunjiri loses MP seat

Bahati Member of Parliament Kimani Ngunjiri has lost his re-election bid.

In the results announced by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Thursday afternoon, the outspoken UDA party politician lost his seat to Jubilee’s Irene Njoki, who garnered 34,308 votes.

Ngunjiri came a distant second with 26,809 votes, followed by Quindos Karanja who managed a measly 2,130 votes.

Four other contestants got less than 300 votes in the polls conducted on Tuesday, August 9. They are Paul Mwaura (271), Gathonjia James (254), Chege Mwangi (198) and Richard Kiboi (63).

Vocal Ruto ally

Kimani Ngunjiri, who was seeking a third term in office, is one of the loyal footsoldiers of UDA presidential candidate William Ruto in Nakuru county.

He was a key pillar of Ruto’s presidential campaigns in the Rift Valley county.
