Kajiado Senator Philip Mpaayei has ditched the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party for Azimio la Umoja – One Kenya coalition party in what he termed as frustrations and injustice.

The senator who was elected on a Jubilee ticket in 2017 but ditched the ruling party for UDA, lost in the party primaries to a political greenhorn Kanar Seki.

Philip Mpaayei who has been missing in the public limelight, on Wednesday, July 13, announced that he was rigged out in the UDA primaries and that he cannot withstand being in a coalition or a party that is composed of selfish leaders who do not honour justice.

“My supporters had warned me that I was going to be rigged out in UDA nominations but I did not listen to them. The reality has now dawned on me. UDA craftily rigged me out and replaced me with a weak candidate who will be floored by Azimio candidate.

“Kenya Kwanza coalition is a den of political conmanship that does not recognize democracy and the will of the people. The team is an affiliation of selfish people who jeopardize justice and that was manifested through their rigging of the party primaries,” Mpaayei claimed.

He pledged to support the Azimio allied candidates led by their presidential candidate Raila Odinga and her running mate Martha Karua.

“I have done my due diligence and widely consulted. I now want to say that I have joined the Azimio la Umoja coalition. I officially quit UDA party and I will not support any leader allied to it,” he added.

During the political declaration that was also attended by Governor Joseph Ole Lenku (ODM), tens of other UDA supporters who have been supporting the senator also ditched the party.
