Jubilee alleges massive rigging happened in Mount Kenya during election

Jubilee Party now claims that there was massive rigging and voter bribery in the Mount Kenya region during the August 9 general election.

Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Pangani on Wednesday, August 24, Jubilee Party Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said people were taking pictures of the ballot papers after voting in order to be paid.

“It is within our region that we now got a new phenomenon of people going into the polling stations and taking photographs of their polling papers.

“Why were the voters taking pictures of the ballot papers? It is because there was a salary that was to be given to those voters,” he alleged.

At the same time, Kioni said Jubilee Party agents were denied access to polling stations in the region.

“All our agents were denied access to the polling stations at the time when others were allowed in. The earliest most of the agents were allowed in was around 10 am. All of them were told your letter of appointment is not stamped,” he said.

He also said many voters were misled to vote for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidates.

“All over sudden, Mount Kenya had a lot of voters that needed to be assisted. The illiteracy level just shot up in 2022.

“Our agents were stuck at one corner and the presiding officer was with the assisted voters,” he added.
