Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja was, on Monday, cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to run for a second term as a governor.

The governor is seeking to retain his seat on a Jubilee Party ticket.

Governor Granton Samboja all smiles after being cleared by IEBC.

“I have been cleared by the IEBC to run for my second term.

“Dear Taita Taveta county residents, thanks for your continued support. May almighty God bless you as we continue with this journey together,” Samboja said shortly after receiving his nomination certificate.

Samboja’s first term

He was first elected in 2017 on a Wiper Party ticket after trouncing the then Taita Taveta governor John Mruttu.

Mruttu was seeking re-election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
