The Kisii County Azimio Board was unveiled on Wednesday to coordinate campaigns for the Azimio la Umoja–One Kenya presidential candidate Raila Odinga ahead of his visit to the South Nyanza county next week.
While launching the board, the presidential Nyanza campaign chairman, Simba Arati said the members drawn from 16 political parties will mobilize voters to secure Raila’s victory.
Arati, who is vying for Kisii County governor’s seat on the ODM ticket said the board, chaired by Kerosi Ondieki and coordinated by Moses Nyakeramba would conduct Azimio’s political activities in the county.
“We do not recognize self-appointed individuals to create confusion ahead of the planned visit by Raila and President Uhuru Kenyatta in Kisii county next week,” Arati, the Dagoretti North Member of Parliament, told the press at a Kisii hotel.

He was accompanied by his running mate, Dr. Robert Monda, Kitutu Chache South Member of Parliament, Richard Onyonka, Woman Representative candidate, Dorice Donya, and board officials- Prof. Henry Onderi, Secretary, Job Okemwa, Treasurer, Eric Omanga, Assistant Secretary and Joel Omagwa, Secretary-general and Nyakeramba, coordinator.
Arati said that Kisii County Secretary, Patrick Lumumba would deputize Nyakeramba and urged him to ensure that there are no unnecessary employments, saying it will increase the wage bills.
He appealed to county employees not to be sucked into politics and instead do their work and show him the way once he is elected the second governor of the county.
“We do not want to be divided as the Azimio family. If you have your group and you agree to work under the board, we will accept,” Arati said.
Onyonka said some individuals were planning to dilute Odinga’s votes in the county by heckling him, saying that they will not allow it.
“We are not going to compromise on a vote for Raila. Our competitors are those in the United Democratic Alliance and those outside,” Onyonka said.
