Anti-Terrorism Police Unit detective arrested for trafficking 139kg bhang

A detective attached to the DCI’s Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU) was on Thursday evening arrested while trafficking 139kg of bhang from Nanyuki to Nairobi.

Constable Paul Karuga Njoroge of this Isiolo ATPU office was found ferrying a total of 62 stones of the drugs in a Mitsubishi lorry registration number KCJ 474A.

The lorry has also been detained and the suspect was handed over to the Nanyuki police station commander.

Dozens of law enforcers have been arrested in the last month for various criminal activities.

Early this month, two officers attached to Wajir Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and an Administration Police officer were arrested while trafficking 250kg of bhang and assorted relief food using a government vehicle.

The arrest brings to over 30 the number of officers arrested in the last month with over 100 others being investigated over various criminal offences including murder, robbery, stealing, and corruption among others.
