Saboti MP Caleb Amisi has demanded an explanation after the embattled Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua claimed to reveal details of contracts signed by Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties ahead of the 2022 general elections.
Taking to his official X account on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, Amisi said that the National Assembly should be tasked to explain the 30% shareholding of the Western region, in the Kenya Kwanza government.
Amisi on development projects
The lawmaker expressed his disappointment, stating that the tarmac roads he has been painfully championing for are supposed to be part of the 30% shareholding that was explained by DP Gachagua during his late Monday press conference.
Amisi further argued that the shareholding claims should be explained on the floor of the house once the impeachment process of DP Gachagua is concluded.
“Nonetheless, at least I picked one line from #RiggyG statement, that the western region has a shareholding of 30% in the #UDA government, which includes appointments, revival of sugar factories and tarmac roads that I have painfully been championing for. After #GachaguaImpeachment, I will be expecting the same to be explained on the floor of the house.! We are tired of suffering as a constituency!” the lawmaker stated.

Gachagua on govt shareholding
Gachagua, during his presser, sought to clear the aim on claims of him equating the country to a shareholding company.
In his defense, the embattled DP stated that he had referred to the contracts signed by Kenya Kwanza affiliate parties when they joined hands with the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ahead of the 2022 elections.
He stated that each party had their own terms while signing the contracts, noting that Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula had bargained for a 30% stake in government for the Western region, which included appointments and development projects.
Amisi on Gachagua impeachment
Amisi had earlier on set some conditions for him to participate on Gachagua’s impeachment.
The lawmaker in a series of posts via his official X account had argued that the impeachment of DP Gachagua was just but a hot air to his constituents, whom he said have never benefited in any government since the creation of the constituency.
“I repeat! My people of Saboti have never benefited in any government since the creation of the constituency. If there is no road allocation in this financial year for saboti, #GachaguaImpeachment is hot air to them. If they tell me they choose impeachment of Gachagua over road network, I will still oblige. They are my bosses! Kenya needs renaissance!” Amisi said in a post shared on October 5, 2024.

While reacting to DP Gachagua’s apology to Kenyans and his boss President William Ruto, the MP stated that he would only accept a personal apology in writing.
This, the lawmaker said, was for Gachagua’s shareholding remarks which he said have caused him unfathomable pain and a feeling of worthlessness.
Amisi went on to state that the DP should forward his apology by Tuesday at noon, should he want to retain his position as the country’s second-in-command.
