EACC sleuths arrest Kiambu MCA
Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) detectives have arrested a Kiambu Member of County Assembly (MCA) for providing false information to the commission.
Robert Kibe Githongo, the ward representative for Kiamwangi, will appear before Milimani Courts today to face corruption charges.
“The MCA will be charged with four counts of charges: providing false information to EACC, making a false document, uttering a false document and making a false declaration,” said the commission in a statement.
It is alleged that the MCA had forged some of his academic certificates prior to his election into the assembly.
Before his election, Kibe was the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) chairperson for Gatundu South Constituency.
Fake KCSE certificate
In 2017, the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) rejected Kibe’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) certificate as fake.
The certificate indicated that Kibe sat his KCSE exam at Murera Secondary School in 1997 under index number 11235102/008. The said index number, however, does not exist, according to KNEC.
It is not clear how the MCA was allowed to successfully vie for Kiamwangi ward seat in 2017 with a forged certificate.
Kibe was also a pastor with the African Independent Pentecostal Church of Africa (AIPCA) at the time of 2017 election.
