Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has assured residents of Gatundu of their security following a spate of burglary incidents in the area for the past one month.

Matiang’i, who has so far toured Mutomo, the presidents ancestral home, Kimunyu village and Gatundu sought forgiveness from locals for security  lapse that has seen two persons lose their lives, several raped and valuables worth millions stolen during late night break ins.

He assured residents from today, no insecurity case will be witnessed in the entire Gatundu North and South Constituencies.

At least four persons in the gang behind the heinous act have reportedly been arrested.

Security detail in the area has also been beefed up to shield fearful locals from being raided at night.

Residents have since asked the government to conduct an overhaul of security team in the area, blaming the police for laxity Matiang’i has also ordered for a major operation in the entire region to flush out a gang that has been terrorising locals.

The CS, who is being accompanied by area MP Moses Kuria, Kiambu deputy governor James Nyoro and Kiambu women representative Gathoni Wamuchomba is set to tour the infamous Sh 24 billion Karimenu Two dam in Gatundu North during the afternoon.
